Scrabble Card

I had to show you all this adorable birthday card my sister made me for my birthday a couple weeks ago. She is so good at making these little creations. They are a gift all by themselves.

 She attached it to the bag with some vintage seam binding.

 Her gift was a little something for my future chicken coop, so this tag was a perfect foreshadowing to the gift!  The card looks perfect clipped on one of the metal clip stands from the store.  I'm so glad I have the perfect way to display it!

How cute are these graphics!  She gets most of her graphics from Graphics Fairy.

Speaking of "Hen House's", I took my first step towards my future chicken coop today.  Thanks to my insanely wonderful mom, sister, and husband, I was able to purchase this beauty today!  Besides the birth of my beautiful Mary Jane, I don't think I've been this excited in years!  I've wanted this for so long!! Stay tuned to see how I transform this shed into a fabulous home for my girls!

The Frizzle Boys

Remember my rooster?

This was him...Mr. Frizzle.  I miss him so much. He now lives on a wonderful farm up in Sharon, Wisconsin.  I did a whole post on his new farm and owners.  Well, his new owner is such a sweetheart, she called me when she hatched some of his offspring this spring and offered me as many as I wanted. I only had room for one new chicken, so of course I took 2.

Here they are....Annie and Charm. Uh-oh...looks like we are going to have to rename them.  They grew up to be roosters.  Thats the thing about getting chicks.  Usually you don't know what they are until they are a little older.  So you take your chances and hope for hens.  I got 3 new chicks this spring...all roosters.  Dammit!

This is Marge.  Some of you might have met her at the shop back in April when she was just a chick. I think she is a rooster as well.  But I hear Silkie roosters are sometimes quiet.  So far he hasn't made a peep. I'm hoping he stays that way.  As for these two...

I think I may need to find homes for these guys.  My neighbors will soon be complaining about noise or cockfighting since they can't keep their claws of each other.  One second they are the best of friends, the next they are fighting.  Must be something with brothers...my boys act the same way.

I'm really sad about having to get rid of this one. He is going to be BEAUTIFUL.  And he is a sweet guy, which is not very common for roosters.  Maybe I'll keep him and see what happens.  Wait...whats that noise???  It's 8:30 at night...what in God's name is making that racket??

Bawk, Bawk Easter Bunny!

 Meet my new chick "Marge".  She is a Silkie and hopefully a little girl.If you stopped by the store this past weekend, you probably met her.  I thought it would be appropriate to introduce you to her on Easter!

This is where she hangs most of the day, except I'm usually wearing the apron.  I bought her with a buddy, but her buddy didn't make it, so she is flying solo, and she gets really lonely.  SO, I carry her around in my apron all day.  However, she does get out to play....

The boys push her around in their Ninja Turtle van. This is actually only one of her rides....she has a couple.  Her others include a spiderman race car, and a Tonka truck.  

I actually caught them teaching Augie "how to make dinner."  Lucky for Marge, she will never meet this fate.

Since we recently did a post on Annie's chickens, I thought it would be fun to show some of the great chicken finds available on Etsy.  Anne mentioned a few really cute baskets and such that she came across. Here's just some of what we found.  First, I'll start with vintage feed sacks.  These things are so versatile!  I have seen them used as pillows, totes, chair covers, even cushions.

 
This adorable pillow speaks for it's self.  It is so cute!  It is available in CatNapCottage on Etsy.  This artist has tons of great pillows to choose from, 111 to be exact!

I can't get enough of these feed sack pillows.  This one is fabulous.  It is available in LeslieJanson's shop on Etsy.  She has great stuff, be sure to check out her shop!

Feed sacks aren't just for pillows!  When I say I'm in love with this tote, it is an understatement!  It is so, so adorable.  It is available on GinnyMae's shop on Etsy.  She has tons of great things, be sure to check out the other totes and pillows available too.   

Ok, how great is this apron.  Such a clever designer!  I could use this to go around the house to "gather" all the stuff that ends up on the floor throughout the day.  It is called the "gathering apron".  It is available in the shop FrogCreekCottage on Etsy.

Ok, I couldn't leave out jewelry.  This pendant is fabulous.  Check out all the other pendants at this shop, there are tons to choose from, and all are so cute.  This is from Nakisha, on Etsy.  She makes really great stuff!

Love these!  This site on Etsy, CrowBiz's,  has awesome old prints, that they do really cool things too.  Check their shop out, there is something for everyone. 

 
This artist is amazing!  Cari Humphry is her name, and she has the most vibrant, and fun artwork.  All, of which is so, so reasonable.  What I love most about her, is that she names her animal subjects.   

Ok, my sister is not a cow, but this cow is named Annie.  I couldn't resist, isn't she adorable!!  This artist does lots of farmyard animals, and other subject matter to, like trains, cowboys, cars, tomatoes, etc.  Check out ArtPaperGarden, or Peacockgarden's on Etsy.
