White Painted Furniture by Jolie Home

Pure White Paint by Jolie does the trick on these quick furniture flips

So usually I'm using the Noir or Graphite by Jolie Home to paint my furniture.  I felt like changing things up and decided on the Pure White.  I recently acquired a dresser and similar set of night stands I had to get painted.  I lightly sanded all three pieces since they were just a bit slick. Unfortunately they all needed 4 coats of the pure white paint. You just never know with the whites.  Usually the whites need a couple extra coats to cover well. I find this with all white paints. The good thing is, that paint dries quickly, so it doesn't slow you down.

After they were painted they were then sealed for protection. I used  clear wax on the dresser and Jolie varnish on the nightstands. I LOVE the Jolie varnish!

The dresser's drawer pulls were a bit outdated looking, so they got an update with a bit of gold gilding. They turned out great and now look much less dated. Have you used gold gilding before on your paint projects?

Have a peek at the pieces below.

What projects are you currently working on?

Quick furniture transformation on this dated vintage dresser using Pure White Paint by Jolie

Gold gilding did the trick on these old drawer pulls.

It's not easy to find a nice set of matching nightstands to flip. So happy with these.

May Shop Pics

While we were getting the shop ready the other day, we snapped some pictures.  I thought I would entice you local guys and gals to stop by this weekend.
Smore's season is upon us.  How cute is this vintage Campfire Marshmallow tin?  It would be the perfect container to carry all your Smore's fixins in.

Notice the vintage shoe rack behind this adorable desk?  It's fab!  I've never seen one painted like this.
These buckets are perfect for corralling summer toys, or even cold drinks!
They are all so cute and summery.
Loving these old wicker chairs we recently picked up.
We have two of these old cement urns.  They are fab!
These old metal numbers would make a great magnetic board.  They even have a hole in the top for a ribbon to hang from.

My sister made adorable pennant gift tags.  They would be perfect for a summer birthday or party.

Customers are always asking for shutters.  I hope these amazing ones don't disappoint.  They are so perfect.  So summer camp like.
We recently picked up these beauties too.  They are a great grey blue.  All original paint.
This big white cabinet would be the perfect tv stand.  We've left it untouched for now.

So if you haven't been into the shop for a while, maybe it's time you stop by.  We will be open this weekend. Thursday, May 30th thru Saturday June 1st, 10am - 3pm.  We are located at 22029 N. Pepper Road, Unit 2, in Lake Barrington, IL.
Have a great weekend everyone!  Thanks for stopping by.

Mixing It Up

I've been looking for the perfect piece to use two colors on. I love when people mix Annie Sloan's Louis Blue with Old White. I love the Louis Blue, but sometimes it can seem a little too blue for my taste. I do however love this color with dark wax on it, but I didn't want to dark wax this piece. So, I decided to tone down the Louis blue. I just added a little Paris Grey to it. The exact recipe was 3/4 Louis and 1/4 Paris Grey. IMG_3848

I think the color turned out perfect, and with a light tatter here and there, she definately makes a statement.

Beautiful!

This is her before shot. She actually was very pretty without paint, but dare I say...a little boring?

Now she looks like she's all dolled up and ready to go! Speaking of ready to go...she was for sale this week, but has sold already. YEAH! She went home with a very nice lady who is going to turn her into a sink vanity......LOVE that!

We are open this weekend, and we have tons of other adorable painted pieces. Come take a look!

Cable Knit Throw

Recently mom made me a cable knit throw.  It turned out BEAUTIFUL.  It is wonderful in all ways....color...size...thickness...everything.  I just had to share.  Winter will soon be coming to an end, and I just had to share with you what I curled up with this winter.

Image
Isn't it wonderful?

I love how chunky the cable knit is.  It adds up to the perfect warmth on a cold day.

I usually throw it over the foot of my bed when it's not is use.

It is the perfect addition to my bedroom.  My bedroom by the way is a work in progress.  It always ends up with all the clean unfolded laundry when guests are coming at the last minute, or the overflow of toys when cleaning the toy room. And yes, I sleep with deadly deer antlers over my head.  That's how I roll!

Hope you all have a great week.  We will be busy getting the shop ready this week for our next opening on March 15th.  See you then!

Cute Compartments

We see a lot of wonderful old things at flea markets and auctions, but only a few take my breath away.  This is one of those few.

It's time we say goodbye to our favorite cubby in the shop.  We've decided to sell the fabulous pale blue, green cubby we have filled with our smalls.  We've had a lot of interest in her, and shes served her purpose, and now its time for someone else to enjoy her.

Image

She would be great to house all your small craft supplies, or mail and schoolwork, or even small toys.  30 cubbies in all on her. Each with it's own spot for a label.

Let's not forget the perfect chippy, pale blue, green color.

This is actually her sitting at the Oronoco Market.  How could we possibly leave without her?

Gold Rush 146 (800x600) (2)
Yep, we pretty much fell in love with her at first sight.  We picked her up in Oronoco, Mn. at the Gold Rush Days market back in August.  For some fun market pics from Gold Rush, check out that post here.  These cute compartments will be for sale next week at the shop. Anne and I were away at auction last weekend and have lots of fun smalls for our next opening. We will be open February 9th, 10th and 11th,10am -3pm.

Pssst...... We are working on putting paint classes together for Annie Sloan lovers, and we have a fun "farm girl" contributing next week, so stop by!
