Dad's Wintery Picks

Our dad recently went on a picking trip up in the Northwoods and he found some pretty cool "guy stuff" as he likes to call it.

Check out these old snowshoes.  I looked them up and I think they may be from the 1800's.  Pretty cool huh?  Mom added some greens and a fabulous bow to add the Christmas effect.

This is an old pair of wooden ski's.  Once again mom added the greens to add some Christmas charm. 

 

These would look so fabulous in a great room or a cabin.

We have bunch of these old sleds in the shop.  They are all decked out and ready for Christmas. I have one I lean on the wall outside my garage door. I throw an old pair of ice skates over it to make a cute little wintery vinette.

 

We still have some old chicken feeders left from our summer sales. We popped the handles off, added some peas and candles and now have a wonderful authentic centerpiece!  We have some small ones and a really long one that would look so great down the center of a long table.  

We still have plenty of Thanksgiving items out too.  Stop by this weekend and grab some holiday cheer!

Up North Stash

This week my family and I are on vacation at the cabin in Eagle River.  I have been very busy scouting all the garage sales, and resale shops in town.  Mom and Anne and I already had a good start left over from the 4th of July.  I wanted to share some of our finds. 

 
 

As you can see, we have a ton of small furniture pieces.  Dressers, nightstands, benches, stools, even a small settee.
 
I love old dictionaries.  Check out the illustrations in the old gardening book. 

 
I picked up an adorable set of Frenchy looking side tables.  They would make perfect nightstands.  Can't wait to get some paint on them and bring them back to life.

 
I love the color in these vintage fish plates.  They are really cool, and yet pretty.

 
Have you heard?  I'm bringing snack sets back!  I'm telling you, we should all be eating our meals on these pint size plates.  They come in tons of different patterns, are very reasonable, and even make cute dresser plates to corral jewelry on.

I love, love, love old diner dishes.  I scored a box of cups at a farm sale.

I also have 2 dressers and an old chippy white flip top desk to pick up in the morning!  Dad is more than happy to come up later this week to help us get it all home. 

 

Sunday At Elkhorn

Elkhorn was great on Sunday!  The weather was beautiful, the shoppers were plenty, and we out did our previous numbers in sales for a market.  So many thanks to all our customers on Sunday, as well as the many customers we have had in the shop over the last few months!  We saw lots of old friends at the market, and made many new ones as well.  Here are some pictures to share, in case you didn't make it out on Sunday.

  
A great old Ice Cream Sandwich sign. Perfect for Summer!  It came out of an old amusement park.

 
Does this little gal look familiar?  She graced the cover of Country Living Magazine years back.

 
Can you see her on the mantel?  The glare makes it a little difficult.  This is the inside of the vendors home back in 2007.  The vendor, Rick, was the nicest guy ever!  He was so informative, and gave us lots of tips we will be sure to use.  Check out his website http://www.farmhouse1807.com/fhome_ie.htm.

This was also in Rick's booth.  Anne was in love with this old metal vent top.  I can't believe she didn't go home with it!  How perfect for summer is the basket of soft balls?  So cute.

 
Rick and his wife are from Missouri.  They run a General store which sells primitive antiques, as well as wonderful hand crafted bird houses.  Be sure to check them out!

These handcrafted tables were awesome.  They were from another vendor who also graced the pages of Country Living Magazine.  Mike from Treasures and Trash is a really nice guy who is also a vendor at Junk Bonanza and Junk Jubilee.  He and his family are very talented artists!

Yeah! The chicken coop sold.  We were thrilled to not haul it back home.

 
This is an over all shot of our space.  We brought tons of great stuff to this market.  We also sold the Antique Hoosier Cabinet to the funniest guy and his wife.  So glad, it was a great piece, but too big for us to hall back and forth. 

Tattered Tiques will be back at Elkhorn on August 14th.  We will also be open the weekend after the 4th of July.  July 7th, 8th, and 9th.  We hope to see you there!  Thanks again to all the shoppers at the market, and especially to all the devoted Tattered Tiques Shop shoppers!!  In the mean time, we will all be spending the week of the 4th up in Eagle River at the cabin.  Hopefully we will find tons of great treasures in the north woods to share with you at our next sale!  See you then.
