Vintage Santa Collection

My Vintage Santa Collection on Display

Every year during Christmas I bring out my collection of vintage Santa’s. In my collection, I have different style Santa’s and they range in age from probably the 1950’s to 1980’s. Some are blow molds from the 70’s others are vintage ceramic Santa’s from earlier. Each one as special as the next.

Their sweet faces have always been hard to pass up. While out antiquing, or thrifting over the years, I’ve been able to accumulate a small collection. I have a good assortment which include Santa planters, ornaments, Santa music boxes and blow molds.

Isn’t it fun how they are all so different?! I love it. The styles of the Santa’s can sometimes help determine the age.

Bottle Brush Christmas Trees

I’ve mixed my Santa collection with a mass of pretty red and white bottle brush trees from Tattered Tiques  . The trees help the Santa display stand out and look more festive. Although these bottle brush Christmas trees are new, they are based on vintage designs. Many of my customers have bottle brush tree collections. I love seeing pictures of how they display them. In my display, I have the trees in three different sizes.

I hope you enjoyed this little display of my vintage Santa collection! If you’d like to start your own collection, I suggest looking throughout the year for Santas to collect. Usually they are a bit cheaper out of season. Enjoy the Holidays and Happy collecting!

Vintage Johnson Brothers Turkey Dishes

Vintage Brown Transfer ware haul

These beautiful turkey dishes are one of my favorite finds ever. As soon as I saw them, I knew I had to have them. They were gorgeous! It was almost a complete set of 12. I also knew I wasn’t going to keep them. My plan was to flip them quickly before Thanksgiving, which is exactly what I did.

Aren’t they beautiful?

History of Wild Turkeys Dishes by Johnson Brothers

Johnson Brothers is a British pottery company. Founded in1883 by Brothers Alfred and Frederick Johnson. The brothers purchased a bankrupt pottery company. They initially produced earthenware called White Granite. They then started producing underglazed printed ware which led to popularity and hence later, the beautiful native American wild turkey dishes.
Native American wild turkey were made by Johnson Brothers of England and was produced from 1951 to 1974. The pattern is now retired. These beautiful vintage brown transfer ware dishes are highly collectible, and can fetch a hefty price. They were crafted in England.

These spectacular dishes by Johnson Brothers, which featured wild American turkeys, were an effort to cater to the north American market by the brothers. These traditional style dishes are a mix of English craftsmanship and American history and heritage.
Perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, these beautiful dishes will most likely be passed down from generation to generation in families that own them.

These beauties will forever be one of my favorite finds. Brown transferware has also captivated me. I’ve collected pieces over the years and then passed them along to new owners to love. These dishes I’m glad to say all went to good homes!
