Since Margaret Mary(Julie's daughter) and Mac's(Anne's son) birthdays were close to each other, we decided to join forces and throw an old fashioned picnic to celebrate.
We rented a shelter at a local park in Barrington. The shelters are new and beautiful. We lucked out with a gorgeous day!
We used vintage tablecloths on all the tables. Julie found some red and white check ones at a garage sale for 50 cents! Mom put a mix of garden flowers and wildflowers in antique ball jars. Instead of filling up on a bunch of hors d'oeuvres, we just put out big bowls of popcorn. Yum!
Augie is loving the popcorn idea!
No picnic is complete without lemonade. We went with pink lemonade.
Check out these banners mom made. They are adorable.
There's the birthday boy! Happy 5th Mac!
The guys are working hard at the grill.
Now that is a lot of corn on the cob!
While the food cooked, I took the kids off to explore the park.
And there's the birthday girl! Happy 7th birthday Margaret Mary!
What did Soran and Liliana find?
Having fun with Great Grandma and Grandpa.
Foods ready!!
Check out the fruit kabobs Julie made. Great idea! And on the left is that yummy Tomato-Cucumber salad. So fresh!
Looks like the corn on the cob is a hit!
Mom made Mac a special train cake. Looks like those cake decorating classes paid off!
Happy Birthday to you.....Happy Birthday to you!! Happy Birthday dear Mac and Margaret....Happy Birthday to you!!
Check out the cute crowns Anne made. They are so festive and the kids loved them.
An old fashioned picnic wouldn't be complete without some old fashioned games! We did sack races...
And egg races....(Eggs donated by Anne's chickens)
And three legged races!
What a great day! I think we all felt the same as Augie at the end of the party.
Truly a day they'll never forget!
