Mammie the chicken

Anne got a chicken!  She found an ad on Craigslist for a 3 year old Barred Rock hen for 10 bucks.  She couldn't resist!  The boys named her "Mammie."

Mammie and her new friends...a young buff duck and a baby pekin.

Even though she is 3 and most hens stop laying around 3 years of age, she laid an egg the day she was brought to her new home!  Way to go Mammie!

This is Mammie's new home in Anne's backyard.  We will have to make some modifications for Mammie...she'll need a roost.
