Getting ready for Elkhorn Antique Flea Market this week. The market starts this Sunday, Sept. 26, at 7:00 am. It is held at the Walworth County Fairgrounds, on Hwy. 11, in Elkhorn Wisconsin. We have made another batch of cookies for all our customers. Hope to see you there.
Fall gourds, pumpkins and indian corn, make such great subject matter for pictures. These pictures were taken on the road trip home from Minnesota. Local farm stands are the best for fall produce.
We are off to Minnesota on Wednesday evening to attend the annual Junk Bonanza in Shakopee, Mn. Looking forward to the road trip, which is always fun, as well as seeing all the fabulous vendors at the show. We will post some pictures of our trip when we get back. It's still not too late to attend this year's show. It runs Thursday thru Saturday.
We had a pretty successful day at the flea market considering we were rained out the first part of the day. We were excited to share lots of new finds we had. I wanted to show some pictures of them.

Homemade Bookmark
Tonight I was packing an item I sold on Etsy and needed a freebie to throw in the box as a "thank you". I don't know about you, but I love getting little extras when I buy something. I had a pile of small rectangular cardboard I had been saving, which came off vintage seam binding. It's what they used to wrap the seam binding around. I kept them because I thought they would make the perfect book mark. I was right! I wanted to share with you my first attempt.
These were my supplies. Notice the green post-it note which has the note to "make bookmarks" on it. This note was attached to the little cardboard pile forever. I finally got around to it.
This is the backside. I first wrapped a vintage dictionary page around the cardboard for a backdrop.
Not much to it, but it turned out cute! I think this will be my new freebie for all my Etsy customers.
Hope you are having a great Labor Day! I just made the most delicious banana nut muffins thanks to Ina Garten, The Barefoot Contessa, of The Food Network.
Right out of the oven. They smelled amazing, like cinnamon and bananas.
I got a total of 23 regular sized muffins, which is great because I can freeze half of them. I added three bananas and about 1/2 cup of chopped pecans to mine. I left out the coconut,granola, and banana chips, and swapped out the walnuts for pecans because I had them on hand. I also added a brown sugar and cinnamon mixture to the top of mine, instead of all Ina's toppers.
Basically I kept the recipe very simple and made it my own. You should too! Use what you have on hand. Next time, I may make these with apples instead of bananas for a change.
Banana Crunch Muffins
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Line 18 large muffin cups with paper liners. Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Add the melted butter and blend. Combine the eggs, milk, vanilla, and mashed bananas, and add them to the flour-and-butter mixture. Scrape the bowl and blend well. Don't over mix.
Fold the diced bananas, walnuts, granola, and coconut into the batter. Spoon the batter into the paper liners, filling each 1 to the top. Top each muffin with dried banana chips, granola, or coconut, if desired. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the tops are brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly, remove from the pan, and serve.
Lately, we have gone on junking journeys further out into the country. When your driving in the country, you can't help but be amazed at how beautiful everything is. One thing I never get sick of seeing are all the old barns. Earlier today, I received some pictures of one of these old beauties. The barn is going to be torn down in a couple of days and they were wondering if Tattered Tiques was interested in any of the old barn wood. It is located in Iowa. I wanted to share some of the pictures of this fabulous old barn, and some other ones I have found along my way.
I love the color. Such a vibrant red.

About 10 years ago, I used to live in Iowa. If I had known then what I know now, I would of better appreciated what I had. We had 5 acres surrounded by corn fields, a huge beautiful garden, and plenty of room for out buildings. These out buildings could of housed all the farm animals I dream about having one day. The only problem was, I was too far from family! I would love to have all that again, but closer this time.
Off the historic Lincoln Hwy in Illinois. I believe, the Lincoln highway was the first coast to coast highway.

This round barn has been taken care of. It is beautifully manicured.
Last but not least. Some of you from the Chicago area may remember this old beauty. It used to stand along interstate 90 at the corner of Randall Road and I90. Sadly we lost it years back. This barn dates back to 1885, and was the only 16 sided barn of it's kind in Illinois. It was a true marvel.
